We couldn't even see the V.P. Nominee until everyone put their signs away and sat down. As the hall listened to her speech, it was exciting to think that you were in the presence of history in the making but our mind was elsewhere. I knew that as soon as the speech was over, we needed to get someone from Oregon to tell us what they thought and shoot some on-camera reports so we could get back to our media workspace in time to finish for the 11 p.m. newscast in Bend.
But more technology problems with our equipment and the official role call delayed us and forced us to wait. We had less than an hour to finish our piece for the late evening newscast and barely got it to them before the start of their show.
